1. About this policy

Quiet Web (the "Extension") is a content blocker that removes advertisements and trackers as you browse. This policy explains what data the Extension does and does not handle. It applies to the Extension only.

2. Information we collect

The Extension does not collect any personally identifiable information. Specifically, it does not collect or transmit:

• your name, email address, or any account or contact details;
• the web pages, URLs, or search terms you visit or enter;
• your browsing or search history;
• your IP address, device identifiers, or location;
• any analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking of any kind.

The Extension has no user accounts and no sign-in.

3. How blocking works

The Extension blocks ads and trackers in two ways, both of which run entirely on your device:

• Network blocking uses Chrome's declarativeNetRequest API. Filtering rules are supplied to the browser, and Chrome itself decides which network requests to block. The Extension does not log or transmit the addresses of the sites you visit.
• On-page filtering uses content scripts that run on the pages you open to hide advertising elements and to neutralise "disable your ad blocker" walls. These scripts read and modify the page in your browser only.

This processing is performed locally and in real time. No page content, browsing data, or any other information is collected, stored remotely, or transmitted off your device.

4. Local settings and statistics

To function, the Extension stores a small amount of information locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:

• your preferences (theme, popup size, which modules are enabled);
• your list of paused (allowlisted) sites;
• a count of how many items have been blocked, shown in the popup for your information.

This information never leaves your device and is removed when you uninstall the Extension.

5. Permissions

The Extension requests only the permissions it needs to block ads and trackers:

• declarativeNetRequest — to apply the rules that block ad and tracker network requests.
• storage — to save your settings, paused-site list, and block counter locally on your device.
• tabs — to read the active tab's address so the "pause on this site" feature and redirect protection work, and to manage the Extension's own information tab.
• Access to websites you visit — the on-page filtering scripts run on the sites you open to hide ads. This access is used solely for ad and tracker blocking; the Extension collects nothing.

6. Network connections and remote servers

The filter lists are bundled with the Extension and updated only when you install a new version from the Chrome Web Store. The Extension makes no runtime connection to any external server, downloads no remote code, and sends no data over the network.

7. Sharing and third parties

Because the Extension does not collect personal data, there is nothing to share. We do not sell, rent, trade, or transfer any user data. The Extension contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

8. Donations

The Extension may display cryptocurrency wallet addresses for optional voluntary donations. It does not process payments, record whether you donate, or collect any donation information. Copying an address uses your device's clipboard locally.

9. Children's privacy

The Extension is a general-purpose tool, is not directed at children, and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a revised "Last updated" date.

12. Compliance

The Extension complies with the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including Limited Use. Information is used only to provide the single purpose — blocking ads and trackers — and is never transferred for advertising, sold, or used for any unrelated purpose.
